Launching Lodge Borealis: The First Hosting North Server Goes Live

Every new company has a moment when the idea becomes real. For Hosting North, that moment came with the launch of our first production server, LodgeBorealis.com. This is more than just a technical milestone for us. It marks the beginning of the infrastructure behind Hosting North and the first real piece of the foundation we are building for the future.

The name Lodge Borealis reflects a lot about what Hosting North is meant to be. “Lodge” suggests something grounded, dependable, and built to last. “Borealis” points to the northern sky and the identity that shapes this company. Hosting North was created to feel different from the giant, anonymous hosting companies that treat websites like numbers in a system. We wanted to build something more personal, more thoughtful, and more connected to the kind of hands-on service we have believed in for years.

While Hosting North is a new company, the experience behind it goes back much further. This project is being built on more than 20 years of website and hosting experience through Traverse City Web Design. Over the years, we have launched, managed, repaired, migrated, and supported a wide range of websites for businesses in Michigan and across the United States. We have worked through hosting problems of every kind, from slow servers and poor support to broken backups, malware issues, failed updates, and frustrating platform limitations.

That long experience is what led us to create Hosting North in the first place. After managing websites for so many years, we saw the same hosting problems come up again and again. Website owners were often stuck with generic hosting environments that were not built for the way modern WordPress sites actually work. They were paying for hosting, but not getting the real support, maintenance, and oversight that a business website needs. Hosting North was created to solve that problem by offering a more managed, more proactive, and more carefully maintained hosting environment.

The launch of Lodge Borealis is the first major step in that direction. This server is part of the beginning of a managed hosting platform built specifically for WordPress websites, including brochure sites, business websites, and WooCommerce stores. It is designed to support fast loading speeds, stable performance, strong security, and the kind of maintenance structure that helps websites stay healthy over time. Instead of simply giving clients server space and sending them on their way, Hosting North is built around the idea of ongoing stewardship.

That stewardship includes a range of services that go beyond what many people think of as basic hosting. Hosting North offers managed WordPress hosting, daily backups, uptime monitoring, firewall protection, malware scanning, SSL management, domain and DNS support, and proactive software updates. Depending on the hosting plan, clients may also receive performance monitoring, deeper security hardening, site health audits, broken link remediation, advanced optimization, and priority support. The goal is to create an environment where websites are not only hosted, but actively looked after.

This is especially important for the kinds of websites we work on every day. At Traverse City Web Design, many of the sites we build are powered by WordPress, Elementor, and WooCommerce. Those platforms are flexible and powerful, but they also need the right hosting environment behind them. A website can look beautiful on the front end and still struggle behind the scenes if the hosting is weak, outdated, or poorly configured. Hosting North was created to provide the kind of infrastructure that supports those websites properly, with performance, updates, backups, and security all working together.

Another important part of the Hosting North story is its environmental commitment. From the beginning, we wanted this company to reflect not only the technical values we believe in, but also a broader sense of responsibility. Hosting North uses energy-efficient server infrastructure and offsets 300% of its energy usage through renewable energy credits. That means for every unit of energy consumed, three units of clean energy are added back into the grid. It is a meaningful part of what makes Hosting North different, and it reflects the idea that digital infrastructure should be built with care for the wider world as well.

Lodge Borealis is the first server in that larger vision. It is the first machine in what we expect will become a growing network of carefully managed infrastructure supporting websites that need stability, performance, and real support. Every company has to start somewhere, and this is where Hosting North begins: with one server, a clear vision, and a foundation built on more than two decades of real-world experience.

We are excited to see Lodge Borealis come online, not just because it represents a technical achievement, but because it represents the start of something larger. Hosting North is being built slowly, carefully, and with intention. It is rooted in the work we have already been doing for years through Traverse City Web Design, and now it has a server of its own to begin carrying that work forward.
